Press Reviews
All of the native aggros have been filtering reports back to us that these guys are really spreading the noise like a plague. Hey, no shit epidemic heads. Graced with a bit of Incubus's slieght of sound and Sevendus's graceless grit, Dreadknot is heaving some savage tunes into the flaming forge. Their kickoff track, "New Face"' is a fierce and heavy screamer with some thick percussive rolls and nice guitar trills, working a System Of A Down. The drums sound a bit unrecorded (where's the kickbass?), but the old school metal harmonied are an unexpected touch. "Buried" is a more direct slam, with the initial riff weering off into some interesting permutations, althought we can't figure the Moody Blues-like spoken word bit at all. Seems they save the entire low end lurching for "Dirt", a potential cruncher with some doomer content with a profound bass growl and stramgulated guitar treatments. "Undone" is where all the Bizkits break loose, with everyone crowding the mic stand, while the band locks into a retro mosh that's not out of place. Ebert gives it a thumbs up, and the dead guy likes it too. |
