Artist description Cousin Walter is a band based out of Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. We started as a cover band but have now started to write our own stuff. All of the recordings were done in Ryan's dorm room.

Artist History Cousin Walter was founded way back in later September of 1999 with the purpose of playing the music we love in front of people, and doing it well! It started when a bunch of guys who played music were on the same floor (Olson 1) and combined the talents to form a band to play a Halloween show at the Fraternity named Zeta Nu. The original lineup was Josh Cook(lead vocals), Rusty Blaise(rhythm guitar), Dave Marr(drums), Ryan Benjamin(lead guitar), and Tom Thomas(bass). Josh and Rusty are roomates in Olson 1. Ryan and Tom also live on Olson 1. This lineup played at one of the very first open mic nights at Cheel. After a few weeks, Josh left the band and Pete Korb was brought in as the singer. Pete was a student who went to Clarkson as a freshman and then flunked out but continued to hang around Clarkson. Dave was unable to play at the Halloween Zeta Nu show so Kevin Densmore, another Resident Advisor at Clarkson, was brought in as a fill in drummer. Kevin was also so kind as to fill in for Cousin Walter at a few later shows.Faced with the task of having to play at Zeta Nu, the band put many hours of practice into learning songs and syncronizing as a group. When the time came to play at ZN, it turned out damn good, inspiring the group to continue playing, and so the band was now officially formed, under the name "No Ben" and "40% Virgin" interchangably. After a few more shows and dissention within the group, they decided to use a completely new name, and "Cousin Walter" was born. The name was taken from references in the movies "Clerks" and "Mallrats". Using the name for the very first time at the Ice Carnival Battle of the Bands this past winter, Cousin Walter played a tight set and won 2nd place.
