Artist History
It’s taken several years of hard work, concentration and dedication, but now Chris Moutas, pop diva, has her own recently released debut album, “Here I Am,” with its single, “You Can’t Keep Up With Me,” on the new U.S. - German label, JWP/USA Records. Chris, young, blonde, sexy, has relocated in Los Angeles to kick of the start of her new career in America.Chris grew up in Nuremberg, a German city with a clouded past but now, where music is concerned, possesses the unlikely tag of “The Castle Of Hip Hop,” according to Chris. “That’s what the music scene is in Nuremberg today -- mostly hip hop. So, if I wanted to sing at first, I became a kind of hip hopper. I was always onstage surrounded by hip hop guys. I was a singer-hip hopper but I was also the songwriter.“There was always a need for what I was doing onstage in the studios, singing the hooks.“But I was into a wider range of black music, the R&B kind. I was a fan of Whitney and R. Kelly. I grew up listening to Michael Jackson, Sheena Easton, Samantha Fox and Bon Jovi.”For Chris, there was life beyond hip hop. Three of her girl friends in school, in the same class, shared a love for music. At age 16, they decided to become a girl group, writing their own songs and singing. Eventually, with Chris always at the center, it evolved into the Naughty Ladies. “The people around us called us naughty because they really didn't know how to deal with us," she recalls. "We always knew what we wanted so we just added the word Ladies to Naughty and our group name came to life. We did have kind of a wild image. On stage! When Naughty Ladies broke up after a couple of years, Chris decided it was make-or-break time... to see if she could make it on her own and break into the business as a songwriter and a singer. Three songs were recorded for a demo and sent to record companies all over Germany. Four weeks later, the giant EMI company responded saying that Chris’ voice was great, she looked superb... but the music needed work. Included in the reply was an offer to put Chris together with the thriving Minimax Studio and producer Criss Tonino.Tonino recalled the original demo: “I was tremendously impressed with the voice... like a young pop diva. I sensed it was time for her.” It took five months to create the kind of album both producer and singer-songwriter had in mind. The end result is a debut album worthy of airtime on the next "VH1-Divas". Chris Moutas, and the recordings, arrived in the U.S. last August sampling its life and music in new York, San Francisco and finally Los Angeles. The Nuremberg Diva is prepared. |
