Artist description
On his debut solo album entitled " Passing Through", singer/songwriter Carnelian offers us a sensual blend of spirit and emotion. Driven by loop-based rhythms, he combines an enchanting and diverse musical mix appealing to a variety of audiences. Carnelian adheres to a simple philosophy when it comes to his music; "Music is all about emotional content. If a song strikes a sentimental chord in me of any kind, that's a song worth listening to." This theory is boldly obvious on each of the fifteen songs he has selected for "Passing Through". |

Artist History
Carnelian, formerly known as Lou Lasprugato, songwriter/bassist of the popular regional rock band Juliet's Wishing Well, branches off in a new musical direction reflecting a year of release and growth after the break-up of the collaboration. He was an integral part of the band's successes, which included significant airplay of four singles, sales of over 4,000 CDs and nearly 500 live performances. By managing the grass root promotions of the band through two self-released CDs, Carnelian familiarized himself with the inner workings of the music industry, establishing his presence as a gifted songwriter with the reputation as a career driven musician among independent artists. Feeling a desire to be more hands-on than in past recording experiences, Carnelian decided to build a studio in his home and co-produce the album with long-time friend and producer Lance Davis. "Being the singer/songwriter and co-producer allowed me the freedom to see my visions all of the way through with the exploration of new sounds such as a string section or a drum loop." Many guest musicians donated their time and energy during the winter of 2000 to help create "Passing Through", a multi-dimensional and sonically mature album. |

Press Reviews
Carnelian's prolific songwriting abililties shine through in this new endeavor. When asked what motivates him to write his music the artist explained,"...songwriting is always inspired by an experience of some kind. Usually, I'm humming a melody for days and then the lyrics will be triggered by an emotional encounter." The order in which Carnelian has placed his songs on this CD provides a sensory massage for the listener, allowing them to flow freely and easily into a wide range of intense reactions. The definition of "carnelian" is a reddish-brown colored stone that is said to possess powers of protection, peace, eloquence, courage, and healing. These qualities are not only found in this album's creator but are also prevalent in each of the songs, indicating that "Passing Through" in every way IS Carnelian. With the regional successes that Juliet's Wishing Well attained, and sensuous emotionally charged music in his latest creation, it is apparent that Carnelian is not just "passing through", but has much to offer the world. |
