Artist History
Rui was formed in the fall of 1984 as a writing and recording vehicle for J.L. Smith (guitars, bass, vocals), Paul Gruenwald (bass, guitar, keys and vocals) and Neal Johnson (drums). The first recording "Johannesburg" contained 6 tracks and was recorded in the summer of 1987. Additional tracks were recorded in the 1990's and compiled into "Sick of Joy". "Martian Opera" was recorded in 1998 and is included on the 3-song CD "The Grand Design". Rui continues to exists as a writing, recording & performing for J.L.Smith, who also currently plays for The Farleys. |
