Artist description
Australian Goth/metal band Meridian was an act who many saw to hold great promise. The album "Sundown Empire" was released in late '96 by major UK indie label Music For Nations. Unfortunately internal problems led to a split and the band was over -along with any possibility of those dreams being realized. Finally the voice behind Meridian, David Wilkinson, returns with the distinctive sound of "One". The first recorded output from One - the 4 song "Receive the Word" (Dec '98) garnered strong underground media attention. Shortly after, One signed to UK label Nightbreed Recordings and work on the debut album "Walk the Mercy Mile" began. Building further on the Darkwave soundscapes of previous work, One heads in a more electronic direction. Based heavily on themes of loss and desire the 11 tracks feature strong choruses wrapped in subversive undertones. |

One have surely melded the sound of electric guitars with electronic instruments into one good package of 11 great songs. ...the outcome is simply perfect."*Giovanni Branquart : Dark Entries Magazine (Belgium)___"I've been playing 'Walk The Mercy Mile' every weekend in the local underground club and little by little it takes more and more people to the dancefloor!! It's one of the best albums of 1999." *Jyrki Witch : Darklands (Finland)___"...a great album. Awesome darkwave sounds, and David Wilkinson's vocals add an eerie touch to the pot. Good stuff for anyone who loves modern gothic music, and definitely recommended."*Edwin Somnambulist:Industrial Strength Nightmares/CJSW FM (Canada) |
