Artist History Mosaic, started by bassist Greg Swiller, was originally a trio. The three soon decided that they wanted a horn to complement their extraordinary playing. Elliot Deutsch, who had met Swiller at ISOMATA, was recruited on flugelhorn and played with Mosaic through the summer of 1999. However, as the school year began, Elliot could no longer commute to play with them regularly, so Greg added tenor saxist, Nick, to Mosaic. With Nick, Mosaic began to perform weekly at the Italian Restaurant, Gilleto's. Elliot occationally sat in with Mosaic and kept in touch. When Elliot began work on the film "By Sunrise," he decided to record the sound track with Mosaic. He added trombonist Alex Plitt. Sadly Nick could not show up for the recording session. The songs from this web page are from this sound track. Although the quintet form of Mosaic was unique to the session, I think you will definitely enjoy these recordings.
