Artist History
KTV formed in Melbourne in May 1998 from the ashes of pop-punkstersKill Krush Destroy.Singer/songwriter and guitarist Kath Orgovany recruited BassplayerChris Arnott (Vicious Circle, Buttjuice) Guitarist Troy Williams (Gygantor) and drummer Daniel Sujica (Robot Archie, Championship Vinyl.)KTV's members have diverse musical taste which encompassesOriginal Punk (Chris) Skate-punk (Troy) Rock (Daniel) and Pop (Kath.)This gives them a unique yet contemporary sound, melody being the key ingredient in KTV.The band has been on a roll since it's first gig at the Goo Uncovered band competition in July 1998 where they won the first heat playing their debut gig. They were three months old.Since then they were one of only sixteen bands who got through to the heats in The Hard Rock Breeding Ground band comp in July '99 and soon after won the 'Push, Play Record' competition and were selected to have a song on the Push CD which was showcasing the eight best up and coming bands for 1999.The band's debut EP 'Channel Surfing' was released independently in August '99 and was sold out of it's first pressing by March '00.Also in March '00 KTV scored the support to Killing Heidi's album launch at the Prince of Wales in Melbourne. A great achievement for an unsigned band who were less than two years old.(KTV have supported some top acts recently including Killing Heidi, Weta, Deborah Conway, Vika & Linda and Moler.)Second EP 'High Volume Definition' is out now through MGM and contains five tracks which were recorded at Birdland in Feb.'00 and produced by Lindsay Gravina. It also includes three bonus tracks done at Indent Music. |
