Artist History
Founded in late 90, early 91 (long story) as a heavier Industrial based dark metal "studio-only" project. It remained such until 93/94 when it evolved into a more Gothic and Experimental based project. KTOM appeared live in 1994, opening for Six Feet Deep and Mortal, then returned to the studio, releasing a couple more albums before playing live again in 1999. The project as it stands now is a full blow 5 piece band, playing shows in the midwest and working on new material. |

Press Reviews
[[Opuszine - Jason Morehead]] "Imagine if Ennio Morricone wrote a score for a spy movie based upon a Franz Kafka novel. Sounds odd I know, but that's one of the things that comes to mind while listening to Killingtheoldman. It's a harrowing sound, incorporating haunted house organs.. eerie vocals and whispers... electronics from somewhere out in left field.. ..sounds like Scenic if they were inspired by Hammer films and graveyards as opposed to the Mojave desert.. Killingtheoldman explores dark, sometimes shocking themes, but there's less camp here.. ..even when the music is at its darkest and spookiest, one never gets the sense that it's being done for it's own sake, or to be merely shocking or exploitative.." [[The Garlic Press - Carson Pierce]]- "KTOM has been getting rave reviews everywhere.. Odd sampled noises infiltrate the structure, making for an even stranger mix of sounds. Good solid music for those looking for something slightly "different"." [[Balistic Test - Richard Maaranen]] "This band reaches into the depths of my soul when I enter into their dark atmosphere of experimental industrial-rock, sinister horror-film noise & weird darkwave. KTOM has loads of electro tricks up their sleeve.. plenty of vocal manipulation techniques.. distorted whispers, surreal echoes and low-end gruff speaking.. guitars use odd-tone light plucking for the verses and hard outbursts for the chorus. KTOM is showing itself to be a talented innovator, creating cutting-edge industrial music that is clearly different from the cybercore and EBM styles of the day" |
