Artist description
Drew Peterson is a seven-string guitarist who seamlessly melds his traditional melodic instrumental rock influences with newer electronica and trip-hop song forms, mixing modern production techniques with modern electric guitar stylings and a strong melodic sense that is distinctly his own. Drew has won a reputation as being one of the most talented and extreme guitarists in both his native western Massachusetts and at his secondary home, Middlebury College. |

Artist History
"I grew up around guitars, but never seriously tried playing them until I took a music class in 8th grade. Almost failed it- at the end of the semester I could *barely* play Nirvana's "Come As You Are." (no laughter, please). The winter of my freshmen in high school, though, I picked up my dad's acoustic for the hell of it and started messing around, and the rest, as they say, is history. Initially I played your average alt-rock and blues, and got fairly proficient at it, but my younger brother picked up a compilation CD from some colorado radio station that had a track called "Always With Me, Always With You" by this guitarist I'd heard some stuff about called Joe Satriani. Out of curiosity I dropped it into my CD player, and proceeded to stop breathing for the next three minutes and twenty-two seconds. I didn't exactly stop playing blues (i still love it), but to say Satch has had a profound influence on my music since that night would be a hell of an understatement. I'm mostly self-taught, although over the two years or so i've been studying under Paul Asbell, something that has been a really positive experience. I've been playing about 7 years now, and while I still feel I have a very long way to go, I'm finally getting comfortable with my playing level. |
