    Artist History
The concept for Zero2 had its genesis in the summer of 1995 when singer/guitarist Bryan Wright saw an opportunity to create a band with a truly unique musical signature. Unfortunately, commitment to local band Quite Frankly prevented him from pursuing anything more musically fulfilling. With the demise of Frankly in late 1996 (and after a short musical hiatus), Bryan began a long and tedious search for the right person to form the innovative duo that would become Zero2. As luck would have it, he immediately found exactly what he was looking for in drummer Doug Dean, who was playing with a local shoe-gazer act called Loomer. Subsequent auditions turned up Rusty Berg, who completed the puzzle to hold down Zero2's thunderous rhythm section. Six months and two studio stints later, Zero2's debut EP Infinite Number of Monkeys galvanized their direction. With a blend of influences ranging from Tool to Stabbing Westward, Zero2 starts with deep rhythm grooves fueled by hard-hitting guitar tracks. Over that foundation, Bryan layers spoken-word samples, hooky vocal lines, and sparing but FAT analog synths to create a sonic fingerprint that is Zero2's alone. "Disorder," for example "was inspired by the Morse code rhythm of the word," says Bryan. "I was messing around with Morse one day on a plane, and it just clicked. From there, the guitar tracks jumped out, and the rest of the song practically forced itself into existence. It was pretty cool." From the jagged edges of "Worth It?" to the slow, noisy motion of "Control Of A Nation," Infinite Number of Monkeys proves the band has hit their groove and in the process, created a unique brand of alt-core.
