You're in a movie theater. The film comes on. It's 1969... The Summer of Love. Five guys are in the studio to make a record. All from Portland. All facing the draft. All very talented.They turn on the TV. It's a montage of exploding body parts. The scenes by audio track are: Queen Bee (I hate my old lady back home)Born To Love (She dumps me while I'm gone)One By One (We came To Hollywood)Beautiful Lady (California girls rule, man)No One Smiles (Hollywood street people)The Raven (Hollywood night life)Bound By A Paper (The draft notice)Lost Out (fate's got me now)Mother (they're shippin' me out mom!)Nothing Ever Lasts Forever (I will survive)Song On The End (Or none of us will...)The Los Angeles ABC affiliate used "Song On The End" with Viet Nam War images, Christmas Eve of 1969, to close their newscast. |
