    Artist description
Vaughan Penn has been performing since the age of two. She grew up in the small town of Madison, North Carolina where by the age of 14 she was writing songs, fronting bands and playing coffeehouses. While living in Los Angeles through the mid 90's she scored as a songwriter with cuts by Rita Coolidge and Lowen & Navarro, and gained recognition from the National Academy of Songwriters for her writing and performing when they nominated her for acoustic artist of the year.In January of 1997, she toured throughout Europe and at MIDEM earned herself the best show accolade. Returning to the States, Vaughan continued to excite fans and the media by playing festivals and shows in New York, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee. In the summer Vaughan returned to Europe, establishing a fervent fan base in Scandinavia with a string of gigs with Son Volt, 16 Horsepower, Nanci Griffith, and others. While there, she caught the attention of MD Records, Scandinavia's successful independent label, distributing and supporting her debut CD The World's Alright throughout the entire region. This led to a return tour of Scandinavia in October and November and the release of the single Eye for an Eye which playlisted to heavy rotation throughout Norway, Sweden and Denmark on national radio (where she still is played). Taking the lead of WRLT back in the States, radio in Gainesville, FL, St. Louis, MO, Bozeman, MT, and other markets were spinning Eye for an Eye as well. Vaughan continues to play live, sharing stages with Sister Hazel, Chris Whitley, Mayfield, Flick, Wes Cunningham and others. In January of 1998, Vaughan returned to the studio co-producing her new songs with Ben Keith (Jewel & Neil Young) and finishing her second album by the summer. Vaughan continued to write and play live through the rest of '98 and prepared to return to the studio in '99 to record her third and most recent project. She began recording a six song EP that was to become hugely successful with television music supervisors. Her song Eye for an Eye was placed in the season finale of NBC's Providence in May '99. The placements on network television continued with the new season in the fall with Truth on NBC's Cold Feet and Happy and Free again to Providence. Most recently, I'm over It was featured again on Providence. At this time Vaughan is in the studio completing her third album.
