    Artist History
San Francisco punks the Blackouts have been bashing out their frenetic brand of tuneful rock and roll for only a year-and-a-half, but the group has already accomplished more than many local D.I.Y. bands manage in a whole career. In 1999 alone, the Blackouts released two versions of their eponymous CD, appeared on three punk compilations (including"A Fistfull of Rock N Roll" on Caroline Records and Polydor's "The Best Unsigned San Francisco Bands"), played countless shows in the Bay Area and Los Angeles and even toured Australia.

    Press Reviews
SF Bay Guardian Summer Burkes, Music Editor, March 31,1999ROCK ON! The Blackouts play straight up, glam inspired, metal infused rock and roll, echoing the attitude of the drug-addeled force of early - '80s heroes like the DeadBoys, the Stooges, and Motley Crue, as well as upholding the current rock and rollunderground standard set by a slew of bands in the late '80s and early '90s (LazyCowgirls, Poison 13, etc.). " Aint'cha Had Enough" uses the almighty cowbell --- astaple of anti-whinny cock rock --- to propel the juicy testosterone anthem straightthrough their giant Marshall stacks (probably). " California" tugs at local heartstringseven as it sneers, "I wanna burn in the California sun / Lets go --- I wanna get their ina hurry." ( Cheap shot , but effective.) And " Too Late Now" qualifies as the Blackouts'slow song, but only because it's not quite as mosh worthy as the others. Can't wait to see their live show.
