Artist History
Randy began playing piano at age 6 and guitar at age 9. He spent many years as a composer, arranger, and producer in his local studio scene producing dozens of CDs of various music styles. Having traded in his "Full-Time" musician status for a steady paycheck, his projects are now more for the love of creativity. He enjoys the escape his basement studio offers him, finding there the true joy of musical release. Recently inspired by a fantastic weekend at a JazzTrax festival on Catalina Island (with wife, sans kids), he decided to give the Smooth Jazz genre a try. Randy feels like he found a long lost friend as it was sounds of Jazz that first stirred his emotions and actions towards music. His second CD found another lost friend in a contemporary folk vein. |

Press Reviews
:-) I'm still smiling. Smiling, because I just listened to an album from a guy who attends a jazz festival, then comes home and attempts his first ever smooth jazz project and hits a homer...it sounds as though the artist grew up in the contemporary pop/jazz genre...This music has all the hooks, grooves and textures you hope for...but seldom receive in the course of an entire album...The sound quality of this MP3 disc is surprising...The sound is very open and transparent to the numerous layers of instrumental tracks...My personal favorite, "Moxie," is a Russ Freeman meets Wes Montgomery interplayed romp through the playgrounds of clean guitar stylings. "PJ's" infuses four different guitar sounds into one song and yet maintains a coherent and sophisticated theme throughout..."Wishin' You Were Here" (allows) the listener to truly feel for the song's subject. "Double Dog Dare You" features some cleverly disguised vocal stylings alongside a most unusual marriage of acoustic and electric guitar...Gifted musicianship, inspired song writing and clever arranging are three key elements to a successful album. Smile For Me has all three in spades. If you enjoy great instrumental music, don't miss this one, it will keep you smiling too. (Dick Diamond - Freelance Music Reviewer) |
