    Artist description
We asked Nick Vincent's emo little brother Tom to describe our sound, and he called it "melodic experimental technical punk rock," which is better than anything we could come up with. In a nutshell, we are a blend of meaningful lyrics, catchy three-part harmonies, dual guitar melodies, complex bass lines, and breakneck drumbeats over changing time signatures. Or something.

ERECTNAPHOBIA CD REVIEW - By Brant Polkowski (as seen on www.sincitymusic.com)...... Toys R Us Kid's opening lyrics "Old enough / yet still wet behind ears" are a pretty good way to describe 7 Foot Midget's Erectnaphobia. It's an adolescent release, catching the band in between an earlier pop punk sound and a newer, still evolving sound with slight emo/hardcore influences. All of the songs from Nerdcore are present, as well as other older 7FM tunes including "Christine". Re-recorded and reworked, these might not be the same old songs that you are used to. There is a stronger element of lead guitar to the tracks, and indeed to the whole album, while Jonn Losey's bass is conspicuously indiscernible. "Christine" really benefits from the changes, while "Just a Slice of Butter and Some Bread" suffers from the dubbed over Orson Welles' audio clips, which only add noise and clutter, subtracting from the song's punch. Longtime 7 Foot fans will enjoy the inclusion of the more juvenile tracks "I Don't Date Mormons..." and "I Want to Fuck Your Mom", the album's bonus hidden track. The newer material though is really the strength of this release. Starting with the eighth track, "Deadbeat Dad", the album progressively picks up both pace and potency. "Deadbeat Dad" revolves around a hard working father and has much in common with Harry Chapin's "Cats in the Cradle"; by song's end, the father realizes he has become what he hated. The song resonates with sincerity, emotion, and self-realization owing in large part to the autobiographical similarities with singer Nick Vincent's own life. "Toys R Us Kid" is another great, newer song. It, along with Erectnaphobia's other tracks, boasts excellent backing vocals and here Jay Losey really steps up with pounding drum beats. A pleasant surprise on the album comes in the form of "Miracle Grow", written and sung by Nick Whalen. It's an endearing short track with a neat acoustic intro that leads into a complex multi-part song about love and the discovery of self. Erectnaphobia saves the best for last though, in the form of "Family Values", a damn addictive song. Again singing about failed family relationships, Vincent uses distortion on some of his vocals to a quite good effect, creating a gritty and edgy defiant sound that is only added to by the driving main guitar motif. Like Nerdcore before it, the overall effect of Erectnaphobia is a cohesive and interrelated one and shows that you can count on 7 Foot Midget to come up with several themes and to stick with them. This is a good solid release that I have been listening to a lot and not tiring of hearing. It bodes well for 7 Foot Midget's future as the band moves forward and grapples with its own sound and style.
