Artist description
Four mates who don't just meet for band events,
but actually hang out together as mates do. They
write songs about things that inspire them, things
thats confuse them, and things that alter the way
they think.
The best thing about The Verdict is that,
they're doing what they enjoy doing, with people
they enjoy doing it with. |

Artist History
The band spawned from two southern Sydney schools,
in what is known as the shire. Different members
had been jamming together for some time..all the
members had known eachother for a while, and with
the end of school now a memory to lament, the
time was right to form "Soothsayer".
Soothsayers initiation into banddom, was about
a month after the band formed and was a mates
new years eve party(97/98). After this, a long
break untill the next gig which the members used
productively in order to learn how to work
together and wrote more songs. A few more mates
parties, allowing Soothsayer to see what people
liked.
But, just after easter '98 disaster struck.
Soothsayer discovered another "Soothsayer" who
were already signed. Thus The Verdict was born.
In september '98 the Verdict played a music
festival called "Blackstump", and also began
their entrance onto the Pub scene, starting with
Caringbah businessman's club [the Bizzo's].
Then again at easter time (99) disaster struck
again. During a period of more gigs than the band
could poke a floyd rose tremelo arm at, it along
with most of their gear was stolen, after a gig
in a pathetic venue. At the same time they signed
in with a group called "Club Ondrash" which of
course folded thus the band gained nothing. A few
more gigs here and there, performing live and
acoustic on air. Winning a band competion,
allowing them to play at a few more festivals.
and more recently being accepted back at
"Blackstump" 99. |

"Your sound is not unlike Soundgarden circa
"Superunknown". Chris Cornell has gone off
into his acoustic thing and you can fill
the void left by their departure."

"Your sound is pretty mainstream and is sure
to get plenty of fans when it hits the MTV
