Press Reviews
"Cutler writes catchy, sixties-influenced pop rock tunes with strong hooks, and mile-wide guitar riffs. The ...harmonies and jangly guitars are here in all their glory"- Bob Ciancy, The River Reporter, Narrowsburg, NY, September, 1998 "Little Strong Man, Damn Fine Record"- Paul Moffet, Louisville Music News, May, 1998 "... heartfelt passion ... combined with rock-solid performances. "Skylolo" is sure to take Mark Cutler closerto the national stage he deserves to be on."- Jim Horan, Instant Magazine , April/May, 1998 "... one of New England's most compelling tune-smiths, as well as a hellacious guitar slinger," - Jay Miller, Patriot Ledger, March 1998"Combining equal parts '60s jangle, power pop and roots rock - often in the same song ... Mark Cutler'ssecond album is a nuclear-powered, time-machine tour of pregrunge rock styles." - Kevin Convey, Boston Herald, Feb. 1998"Cutler ... goes straight for the stripped-down heart with songs that are lived-in and sincere without beingsentimental." - Bill Flannagan, GQ Magazine, May 1997"Mark Cutler sees things, digests them, and spits out his own spin on the particulars of their cause ... Thevignettes all resonate because Cutler's writing style is disarmingly adroit, somewhat poetic, and tantalizinglyrockin'," - Jim Macnie, Providence Phoenix, March 1998"... he plies the kind of guitar-driven pop with verve missing from so many so-called roots bands these days.He writes lyrics with a painter's eyes; all the details are crystallized in an image others might use numerouslaborious couplets to define." - Ken Capobianco, The Tab, Feb. 1998 |
