Artist History
Originating In 1998, after a friendly jam session proved too good to be short lived, the members of Half the World spent the better part of a year focusing on material which became their debut album. In the summer of 1999, one of the original guitarists left the band and was replaced with Jim after a chance meeting between mutual friends. With this new lineup, Half the World's success blossomed in several areas. Including an opening slot for Third Eye Blind on their Dragons and Astronauts Tour. Half the World was also rewarded with 4 songs off the debut album as Song of the day on MP3.COM. During the spring of 2001, Half the World longed for a change to fit with the new and more aggressive style of music they were writing, but were unsure what the missing element was. In June of 2001 Half the World replaced their original vocalist with a new female vocalist, Mary Magill who is originally from Holland. With this current lineup Half the World is now poised to achieve great things in the realm of new rock with this unique and exciting sound, which has been described as " A giant bowl of razorblades covered in sweet candy syrup." Half the World is currently putting the finishing touches on their new album, which will be available in early 2002. And as always, advanced releases are available to HTW Street Team Members. |

Press Reviews
When I first heard Half the World's music online, I immediately misjudged them as totally derivative, boring, radio-style corporate alternative band. After meeting with these guys and taking a good listen to their CD, I quickly changed my mind and came to recognize something else in their style. DAN ARNOLD, HARDROAD.COM.... ....It may irk local musicians to hear this, but the biggest compliment I can pay a Boise band's CD is to admit that it doesn't sound like a Boise band's CD.
Half the World's self-titled disc sounds like it belongs among the stacks of major-label releases that flood my desk every week. The Boise-based band has created a polished album that cross-pollinates the moody atmospherics of alternative rock with the silicone production of a commercial release. MIKE DEEDS, IDAHO STATESMAN....
....This is a really good sounding rock group with some really interesting melodic transitions. Kinda backwards melodies that leave your brain wanting to hear the next track. EDDIE - MP3 REVIEWS (www.nsi-radio.com/reviews.htm) |
