So many conveniences-frozen dinners, fast transportation, even mail that is delivered immediately. Well, now you can haveyour very own rave in the privacy of your very own living room. Real is just that. It is aprepackaged rave.By now, I assume that you have guessed that this CD is a collection of electronica. And I know that some people look down on this genre as not really being "music" because there is no true "band" that gets together and creates the sounds. It ismore a collage of synthesizers, and samples of noise, voices, and assorted sound effects allput to the beat of a drum machine. However, this music also incorporates real guitars andkeyboards and does indeed take a lot of imagination and creativity as well as technicalgenius.I will also admit right off the bat, that I don't know ambient trip-hop from deephouse or whatever all the other sub-genres are of electronica. That said, I do know that thisCD contains all the elements found in electronica and they are put together in a fashion thatis truly electrifying.But, getting back to my premise that this is a rave in a jewel box, this is what youhave to do: get dressed appropriately, expand your mind with which ever method you prefer,and then put Real on the CD player. This CD takes you on a bell curve trip. First there are acouple of mood setting pieces, the title piece "fleshpulseflesh" and "no sanctuary". Theseare just sort of demonic spoken collages of noise and chanting with no drums. We arebeginning to feel the effects and we are anticipating the rush.Then, as we are starting to "get off', the real trip begins- "hey", "free electron",and on through "dark birdy" put us in our electronica groove. These are wild pulsationsthat make you want to move your body. I especially enjoyed "eNTERDRONe" and "bit d' ol' in out".Finally, we are slowly let down with "wistful organum". Our psychedelic journey isover and we are back all in the same day. We have gone to the peak and come back with alittle sex in the middle.
