Artist History
Dented formed initially in the Spring of 1996 after singer Chris Rodriguez and drummer Mike Cuadrado became disgruntled at the lame bands they had been tooling around with. The two set out to make music that did not suck, and was not fueled by the need to use playing for an excuse to get drunk or high all of the time. After a short amount of time, a gifted and origional bass player named Nigel Grover literally fell into their laps, the three then proceeded to write and play shows at a scorching pace all over the midwest. Press and media coverage took off almost over night and soon the whole world seemed to take notice of the three small town boys with the loud sound. Dented began to grow a cult following via MP3.com listeners and various internet user sites in Countries all over the world, and in virtually every state in the USA. Unfortunately, the band was doomed from the start as bass player Nigel was slated to start school in Boston in 1999 at Berkely School of Music. The band had to take a painful break and only played sparingly during this time. A CD that had been in the process of being made, eventually got scrapped in it's entirety and the band slowed down to a snails pace as far as productivity. The remaining two members of Dented took a huge amount of time off to enjoy the life that had been happening all around them, but were somehow missing out on. Then in January of 2000, the very principles that Dented had been founded upon, caused the two to hook up again writing and beginning the search for anoher bass player. As luck would have it, the band added another guitarist by the name of Jeremy Hudson, a local guitar legend by his own rights. Along with Jeremy came his friend and bass player Marcus Schlansker. The now four-piece band got whipped into shape and quickly got back to the playing frenzy that had so defined Dented in the past. Just as things were about to pick up where they left off, an unforseen disaster popped up in the personal life of Jeremy and he had to leave the band that he had made his new home in. Within weeks, the members of Dented called upon the service of another guitarist.
None other than San Diego native Adrian Zamora, a player who had built a style for the obscure and a taste for origionality in guitar playing in such noted bands as Lego Dynasty, and The Four Track Fuckers. Zamora had recently left his own band, and was already an avid Dented fan, and close friend, so it was an obvious choice to make. But not unlike the pattern for Dented, Adrian all too soon had pressing family needs that sadly caused him to have to leave. The three remaining members quickly realized that the bond they shared and the chemistry they had created was enough to propel themselves into history as a three piece. Returning the origional formula that had been so successful in the beginning. And the rest they say is history, the band now finds itself in the refreshing position of having to introduce new listeners to it's form of music. Dented is for the first time in a long time, having to reach out to an audience that has not heard them, nor anything like them. This new challange of having to prove themselves nightly at shows has lit a fire than cannot possibly be contained. With high energy shows, and hapless disreguard to the "rules" of music. Dented is quickly overtaking the hearts of thousands of fans who have been looking for music to believe in. If you get the chance to see Dented play live, make every effort to see them. They truely have formed a path that has not been seen in todays musical world. In a stagnant music industry full of baseball cap wearing posers, Dented's form of music is like a breath of fresh air, it is so promising to finally have a band that means something. With powerful songs, and blistering performances...this band will soon find itself in the hearts of millions. Not tragedy, sickness, or adversity has been successful in stopping the three boys from filling the world with music. They refuse to give up... or in, and thankfully so, the music industry has a savior whether they understand it or not.Check them out if you have the means, you will not be sorry. This just might be the best band in America ---Meredith MacDonald, Contributing Editor:Rolling Stone Magazine
