Artist History
Nancy Tarr and Melissa Lou met while living in NYC (yes you can meet your neighbors) and both subsequently moved to Washington DC. Bored one night they hauled their guitars down to their local coffeehouse, tossed a hat in front of the stage and sang songs about "Dead Girls and other stories." By the end of the night they were singing each other's songs and the Dead Girls were born. Shortly thereafter, they hooked up with keyboard player Marilyn Older and recorded the CD "full of life." They pre-sold their CD and raised over $1,500 by making high contributors "Honorary Dead Girls". They then created the Honorary Dead Girl Showcase. Held monthly, the showcase features female fronted artist not unlike Sarah McLachlan's better known traveling female fronted extravaganza. In the summer of 1998 Dead Girls became the only band in the world to play both Lilith Fair and the H.O.R.D.E. Festival. |
