Artist History
Born in the Mission District of San Francisco in 1996, Ch23 carries this city's
legacy of stylistic invention and spectacle. Elements of their sound fuse trip-hop, hard funk, modern bop, dub,
and tribal electronica into a concoction they call Tryptafunk. Live, Ch23 is a surreal adventure, enhanced with fire performances, exotic dance, and digitally animated projections. Ch23 has performed regularly at the Cafe du Nord, The Paradise, The Transmission Theater, and have been featured on the Main Stage at Burning Man.
Ch23 released their first full length CD entitled "Float" in November of 98. Packed with 17 tracks, it
encapsulates the range and expertise of these musicians yet remains cohesive throughout. Recorded and
mixed on 16 tracks of tube-only gear, and mastered by George Horn at Fantasy, its sound is warm, raw, and
dynamic.
