Artist description
Four kids from a town
where all the local music
is more Folky than Hard.
From this situation, we rose to form Atmosphere
, to fill the needs of a select group of heavy metal maniacs. Our saving grace is that we live very close to
the U.S. border, where we have a strong and
dedicated following. |

Press Reviews
Our one and only Press Release and the follow up Review of our one off Demo CD. I guess people just don't know how to read these days!
--------------------------------------------------
Press Release, Apr. 1, 1998
For Immediate Release
Atmosphere to Enter Studio to Record the long awaited follow-up to the Gold, Scandinavian Compact Disc, “Universal Whore”.
Following a massive 6 month Scandinavian tour in support of the Compact Disc, “Universal Whore” (Catalog # DET 052173666), Atmosphere is readying to enter a major Los Angeles recording studio with legendary “epic” producer Jim Steinman at the helm.
The new songs for this forthcoming CD (as yet untitled) have been a regular part of the shows on the Swedish leg of the Scandinavian tour.
The Swedish fans’ support of the native Kingstonian band dates back to the fall of 1996. It was at this time that Atmosphere’s incredible rise began. Swedish Internet rock fans happened upon the Atmosphere World Wide Web site in search of new material by Kingston artists — as the city is known world-wide for great up and coming acts. Downloads of the band’s first B-Side track “Bleed” (special backwards mix) struck a resounding chord with the first Swedes to access the new web site. The song’s popularity spread like a brush fire amongst the highly connected hard-rock Swedish internet scene. Within weeks, Atmosphere’s office was bombarded with CD and tour requests from all of the Scandinavian countries.
The band is still coming to grips with its massive popularity in this strange market place. Adam Bol, chief songwriter and lead guitarist tells it this way. “We had a blast doing the Scandinavian tour. The Swedish leg was the best as the Swedes have given us our greatest support over the last year. It’s hard to believe that this all started with them hearing that backwards “Bleed” track. We thought that song sounded foreign when we mixed it — I guess it ended up Swedish. We still don’t know what it means as we never found anyone who could translate it for us.”
As the band has yet to finalize it’s North American distribution agreements, please find enclosed a prerelease “CD-R” of the forthcoming domestic release of “Universal Whore”.
Look for a new single in a few months and the new CD by the end of the Summer!

Kingston Whig Standard, Apr. 25, 1998 Review:
=====CD REVIEWS======
+++++Atmosphere+++++
Atmosphere is a Kingston hard rock band that has garnered quite a following in Sweden. Apparently, some Swedes cruising the Internet visited the Atmosphere Web
site (they had better luck than I did) and liked what they heard, especially the track
Bleed, which featured a special backwards mix. The Kingstonians ended up touring
Scandinavia for six months in support of the CD Universal Whore. Maybe the
Swedes needed a break
from all the lightweight pop
that comes from their own
country. Maybe they’re stuck
in a time warp. Atmosphere
certainly is. They play the
same hard rock that was big
in the early '80s featuring
chugging guitars and piercing
singing. I bet these guys still
have their AC/DC T-shirts.
It’s pretty turgid stuff and
what lyrics I could understand seemed to match. Apparently, the band is going
into a Los Angeles studio to
record with Jim Steinman, of
Bat Out of Hell fame. The latter is the antithesis of Universal Whore, so it’ll be inter-
esting to hear what comes of it. I spent the good part of a day listening to it and
clouds began to form around my head, clouds that refused to break and lift a
headache that wouldn’t go away.
