Artist History
Phil and Peter started playing acoustic guitars and swapping songs around 1994. They played a few open mics around the Boston/Cambridge area and eventually were joined by Michael in these early sessions. Later on Brian was added on drums and Aaron Goff on mandolin. The band was known under a variety of names in this formative acoustic rock period, including "The Yangsters" and "Sandbox Rebellion". Later on the name Vellum was picked. Vellum is a type of translucent drafting paper used in the design professions. The name seemed appropriate since two of the band's members are architects (Michael and Peter) and Aaron a graphic designer. The band got a few gigs in 98-99 and went to an electric format. At this point Aaron left the band to focus on his other band and Vellum went into a regrouping phase. The culmination of this effort was the 4-song Demo CD (same songs on MP3). The band is now pursuing more gigs in the Greater Boston area and exploring new aural horizons..... |
