The Holy Grail Pop Companion gushes, "the bootLICKERS power pop ranks in the upper stratosphere (see Jason Falkner, Matthew Sweet). The cocktail mix would probably be: 1 part Go-Go's, 2 parts Beatles, & a dash of Dollywood!" |

Artist History
Begun in a third floor apartment in Center City Philadelphia in the wee hours of New Year's Day, 1995, the bootLICKERS have broken over 3000 strings, cracked 97 picks, destroyed two amplifiers, blown three speakers, sustained minor head injuries, suffered severe dehydration, and survived near electrocution - all in the hopes of achieving pop/rock nirvana! The bootLICKERS have performed with acts as diverse as country star Kim Richey, power/punk performer Daniel Cartier and the chart-topping Indigo Girls. The bootLICKERS debut CD "Universal Nancy" has received rave reviews in Above Ground, Au Courant, The Philadelphia Gay News, The Philadelphia City Paper, The Philadelphia Weekly, Rockpile, The Seattle Gay News, OutLoud and the bootLICKERS have topped the Internet OUTVOICE album AND singles charts. Universal Nancy was cited among the 1998 top-selling independently released CDs at HMV Philadelphia. The bootLICKERS have been featured as "Hometown Heroes" in the Philadelphia City Paper's October 1997 Bi-Annual Music Issue. The bootLICKERS were featured in the Philadelphia Weekly's 1998 "Best Of" Issue. In addition, the bootLICKERS were recognized in the national publication "The Best of 1998 - The Year in Sex" (Starbooks Press) alongside Elton John and Pansy Divisio |
