    Artist description
Super-charged, high-voltage, positive-energy, somewhat dark-side-infected, turbo rock from the home of the hottest chili, the coldest beer, and the most beautiful women in the free (and the not-so-free) world: Austin, Texas, Y'all!! Oddjob's musical arsenal boasts a hard rock sound with a fully loaded clip of punk, funk, and blues to riddle your sickly body with. If Frank Sinatra and James Brown gang-raped Johnny Rotten, the bastard musical child that would result would be OddJob: 60's swagger with 90's attitude. Yeah, baby, yeah!!

    Artist History
Oddjob was formed in May 1998 out of the debris of the breakup of local Austin bands Provocative Elbow, a punk-funk-pop power trio, and a funky-soul ensemble called Moonstone. A hard rock band formed from the disparate musical influences of its members and elements of funk, blues, punk, and straight ahead rock 'n' roll could be found intertwined throughout. The band broke apart in early '99 due to some personal differences. In the meantime, Scott hooked back up with Provocative Elbow's old drummer, Bret Bryon, in a new group in February. Things didn't work out and they decided to venture out on their own and reform OddJob with a new guitarist. They soon recruited local bad-ass Reese Perkins on guitar and Blake Naranjo on lead vocals in late July. Blake was given a new job opportunity in the real world and unfortunatley had to leave the group in late January 2000. After a few more months of strugglingto find a singer, then perform as a power trio, and making no headway, tha band decided to call it quits in the summer of 2000. Enjoy our mp3's though! The songs may resurface someday.

    Press Reviews
".. .their sound is a mix of Fugazi and Black Flag's latter stuff...this album (Dig) contains 11 songs and they're all pretty good. 4 stars (out of 5)."Mikhail-The Punk Page Music reviews: www.megamed.com/~mikhail/p.html"The music is fast and intense, they don't stop for nothing! They've proven to be good songwriters...[and] the lyrics are interesting and not overdone. If you're into hard, fast rock, this one's for you."Klint Finley-The Pages of Darkness: www.geocities.com/hollywood/9590/index.html"Amid influences like Minor Threat and Black Flag, 'Dig' offers above-average guitar sorties...[a] firecracker storm of disparate musical directions."Greg Beets-Austin Chronicle, April 11, '97."[Oddjob] are a great heavy band from Austin. There's no wussy music coming from [them]...With songs like 'Sanitation' and 'Nobody Asked You', DIG is a must for everyone."Trevor McCoy-T and T mag, PO Box 214, Hanna City, IL, 61536.
