Artist History
I started recording my own stuff after years of asking others to see my vision when and how I saw it-it wasn't working! Although I had some really interesting creative experiences during this time I was writing constantly and could never record them fast enough. So I got into hard disk recording at home. This is where I do 99% of my music. I work alone, with the help of a musician here and there, and ALOT of tech and moral support!! I would encourage anyone to do the same - be self sufficient, and let your creativity take you where it will without asking...."Hey, can I record at your place tonight?"n |

Press Reviews
By VINCENT JACKSONPop Music Critic, The Press of Atlantic City newspaper"Kristina Pruitt," Kristina Pruitt - On her debut CD, Kristina Pruittdemonstrates her command over two musical forms that many artists spendtheir careers just trying to do one right, ethereal ballads and mid-temposoul.Pruitt presents a quadruple threat as a singer, multi-instrumentalist,songwriter and vocal arranger who lets all her gifts flourish on her fineCD. On one song, the first track, "Keepin' It Down," she sounds like AnitaBak er backed by either Maxwell's or Sade's band. On another, "Trying To SeeForever," she equally adept at cultivating her piano-based ballad side, which is more reflective of early Kate Bush or Sarah McLachlan.Whether exhibiting backbone on the tune "My Own F ree Will" or working inmore abstract lyrical mode on the reggae-influenced "Blue Skies," Pruittshows that she understands the depths of her talent, and more importantly, knows how to utilize her skills to their greatest advantage. This is animpressive document of her taste and maturity as an artist.A |
