Artist description
Who’s That Girl? From an early age when Kim unwrapped her first “christmas” guitar her family knew she was destined to play and sing. Years later visitors were known to ask who that was singing on the radio or the record player. With much laughter her parents would explain that Kim was practicing in her room with her guitar. For Kim had that “sound” without a lot of fancy equipment. A naturally “studio” quality voice. She was already writing her first songs. It wasn’t until years later after Kim had already started a family of her own and left her guitar collecting dust in the closet that she realized her gift and her true desire to perform and write music. With her new “Gibson” Everly brother’s replica in tow she proceeded to go out and play. The response to her first group “Neon Blue” , who won first prize in the Wingham homecoming Band Contest, and her first music project “Let’s Open The Window”, which received nationwide newspaper coverage for it’s innovative educational approach encouraged Kim to pursue her dream full time. Now a few years, and several guitars, later Kim is playing with the popular Midwestern Ontario group Detour. She has opened for new country artists Beverly Mahood and Stephanie Beaumont with an all female trio “Cactus Jam” and opened for Farmer’s Daughter with Detour. Kim’s songs are featured on two area cd’s Heartbeat and Huron County Sings. She is currently working on an album with Detour for release in 2001 and a solo folk project also for release in 2001. A versatile performer with warmth, style and energy Kim is a Midwestern Ontario favourite and her unique voice and writing style create songs that truly capture the heart of the listener. Watch for Kim/Detour in your area…. there’s a busy year ahead for this girl. |

Artist History
Originating members Roger and Paul Williamson formed the DETOUR band in 1991 based out of Tara, ON. With its roots firmly based in country music, DETOUR has rocked its way through nearly a decade of providing consistently good quality live music.Over the past few years, DETOUR has opened shows for such acts as George Fox, Farmer’s Daughter, Jamie Warren, Thomas Wade and has performed with Larry Mercey, Stephanie Beaumont, Gary Fjellgard and Donna and Leroy Anderson. After playing 6 shows in different locations in one weekend, Country 920 DJ Matt Oneill once dubbed DETOUR “The hardest working band in the area.”DETOUR’s 1994 release entitled “Highway 10” received airplay locally as well as on CBC radio. The 1999 addition of recording artist Kim Such has added greatly to the band’s repertoire and versatility. Kim has opened for Bev Mahood and Stephanie Beaumont. Kim’s songwriting skills and strong vocal stylings have taken the band in new directions. DETOUR plays new country, southern rock, blues, top 40 and traditional country. This versatility enables the band to play to virtually any audience. DETOUR has been affiliated with CKNX radio for several years, showcasing at the station’s COUNTRY 920-CKNX Video dance parties. You may also have seen the DETOUR band at various festivals, concerts, and dances throughout Southwestern Ontario. What‘s in store for the DETOUR band this year? The DETOUR band is currently in the midst of recording a new CD of original material.
