Artist History
While Greta Lee may appear all sweetness and light on the cover of her CD "This Ain't Over Yet," once glance at the song titles on the back suggests otherwise. "Not in A Million" and "The Cryin's Over and Done" suggests that Greta's no girl to be trifled with. And the same goes for her music. Greta grew up on the sounds of Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris, and Waylon Jennings. Her songwriting and singing style reflects the influences of her country music outlaw heroes as well as her desire to break down barriers between all her music influences. The Greta Lee Band were voted "best country band/artist" by Atlanta's Creative Loafing magazine in 1998 and 1999. Her band has opened for many national acts including Hank Williams III, BR5-49, Junior Brown, and others. Greta formed her band with Jon Byrd (telecasters and singing) in 1997. |

Press Reviews
Greta Lee creates the kind of bold, straight-from-the heart songs that prove young country signers are capable of greater depth than Music Row believes possible. Lee comes on like the heir apparent of such intelligent country singers as Rosanne Cash and Mary Chapin Carpenter. - Michael McCall, Nashville Scene, July 21, 1999Atlanta's sweetheart has the voice of a honky-tonk angel and a gift for writing songs that recall the golden age of country music. - Shane Harrison, Atlanta Journal Constitution, August 7, 1999This Ain't Over Yet is a superior country album by a promising young talent. Nashville's current musical mentality has received a lot of deserved criticism recently about the poor quality of music being churned out, but the reality is there isn't a whole lot to work wwith in terms of big talent. Greta Lee's pure, honest approach proves there's a glimmer of hope down the road. - Matt Thompson, Flagpole, November 3, 1999 |
