Artist description
A lone, sparkling mutant in the fertile breeding pond of the Santa Barbara music scene, Buckley V. Valeo is named after a political test-case, yet sings of missed connections and grappling with emotional wiring. In "a war of wordplay, splayed in your backyard", Buckley reels out a sinewy web of lost possiblities, recovering with a wry sense of humor. Allegra Heidelinde is the golden mouthpiece to guitarist Chris Chatto's songs and all is revealed in layers of harmonic tension and blissful release. These are original songs, both ear-pleasing, relevant and shameless. Surely worth a listen? |

Music Style
Folky, rocky, alt, country, these are short sweet musical lanscapes, shimmering, spangly, diminished yet augmented. Buckley forages into melody, looking for the complexity to be found within simplicity. Art comes first for Buckley. |

Musical Influences
Oh, let's say Nick Drake, Elliot Smith, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Dylan, Belle and Sebastian, Miles Davis, Pavement, Built to Spill, and The Pixies. |

Similar Artists
We don't sound like John Lennon, Joni Mitchell, Pavement or the Pixies, Miles Davis or Built To Spill, but we love those artists. We sound more like Fairport Convention or Pentangle. Confused yet? |

Artist History
Buckley formed, rehearsed in a garage, recorded in that same garage (The Bulky Love Cave) and emerged victorious with CD in hand. The band recently released that CD in Santa Barbara to a massively appreciative crowd, and sold hundreds the first night, still selling like the proverbial "hot-cakes". This same CD is currently for sale on MP3.com |
