Artist description
The Antagonist is an underground rapper from San Francisco California, and like so many artists in this area, his rap takes on it's own indvidual aura. His production style ranges from dark RZA style beats , to Premier-type tracks with catchy hooks spawned from classic verses, to an Electronic Funk Mob sound reflecting his Bay Area upbringing. When it comes to Antagonist's vocal delivery, a syrupy smooth, strikingly full voice rides the self-produced tracks with ease.He constantly changes syllables, and pronunciations, while precisely delivering catchy metaphors, and intricate rhyming patterns. An MC for the masses, we will definately be seeing alot of this artist in the future. |

Vocally Antagonist is very unique. Productionwise think RZA's knowledge, Premier's Soul, Muggz's moodiness, and Rick Rock's funk. Now you got a pretty good idea of this cat's muti-faced talent. |

Artist History
Audio Production Major.Antagonist has been rapping for the past 13 years, and has been producing for seven. In 1994 he released a 7 song underground tapeentitled "Whitey" and in 1995 a followup was recorded called simply "A.N.T."With little recognition on these first attempts A.N.T. went back to the lab and brushed up on his production skills. He picked up some better equipment and in 1998 he released the first Antagonist CD entitled "Attack of the A.N.T."This 12 track opus dealt with topics ranging from the usual drugs, and violence, to more serious topics such as alien races, inner-city angst, etc. After "Attack..." the Antagonist once again disappeared for almost a year to further hone his productions, as well as to lay the foundation for his indie imprint Get-A-Real-Job Productions. In late 1999 Antagonist once again released a full length 14 track CD entitled, "Kill-osophy". This album was far superior in it's musical qualitiesand produced several industry-worthy songs. With limited local airplay and strong collaborations with talent he had recruited from the bay area, as well as the local college, the "Kill-osophy" disc started to solidify a fanbase for the A.N.T. Still though he wasn't satisfied, and you could often find him saying, "Ya'll just wait till the next album comes out, you won't even know what to say!" And with the recent release of his third LP "I Gotcha Open" this may just well be true.20 tracks long, this album is definately a must have for the hip hop enthusiast. The production is cutting edge, and his lyrical arsenal is anything but average. With this album Antagonist might just get the repect he deserves! **UPDATED**With the close of 2000, A.N.T. has just released another LP entitled THE UNDERWORLD. To date this is his best work. Production is clean as can be, and vocally he just raised it up another few notches. Much Props he deserves. |

Press Reviews
"The Underworld is one of the cleanest home studio albums I've heard. The whole package is put together nicely, and each song flows together to form a tightly produced unit." -Producer/Teacher/accomplished industry vet G. Stone"During the Cal Poly Battle of the bands, student Anthony Masters took the stage and caused fans to erupt into a violent frenzy. Resulting in two arrests for minors in possesion of alcohol, and assault..." -Mustang Daily 1995"This cat Antagonist is from the bay, and has been putting work into the game for a minute now. With 3 albums produced, he definately deserves the attention ya'll ain't giving him." - DJ John Doe -KCPR Radio |
