VEHNEE SATURNO .....Songwriter/Record Producer/Musical Director/Artist ManagerVehnee Saturno traces back his musical roots to his childhood days, but his formal orientation commenced when he took up Fundamentals of Music and Solfeggio during College and when he enrolled at Ryan Cayabyab’s Music Studio for Basic Pop Arranging.Saturno’s early influences included the likes of Barry Manilow, Lionel Richie and other major musical icons during the Seventies. His first official inroad into the Philippines’ map of famous Composers directory was via the song, " Isang Dakot, " Grand Prize winner in the 5th Metro Manila Song Festival in 1982.Closely trailing this initial success was the song, " Be My Lady, " sung by Martin Nievera, who likewise, gained his entry to the Recording scene via Saturno’s first Hit Song. This was to be the start seemingly – for the budding Composer – Producer – of a pattern of writing and producing songs tailor – fitted to particular artist or group of artist who want a sure ticket to Platinum – land.A string of local and international triumphs followed with winnings for the Best Composition Award in the 3rd ASEAN Song Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia in 1983; First Runner – up in the same category in the First Asia – Pacific Song tilt in Singapore in 1985; and, in the years that followed various hit albums were composed and produced by Saturno for the following artist: Ariel Rivera, Ted Ito, Rodel Naval, Donna Cruz, RockStar, Ella Mae Saison, Allona and recently, Jaya, Jessa Zaragosa and many others.If the gauge in measuring one’s contribution in uplifting the music sector is the numerous awards one receives as Composer and Producer, Saturno, as things now stand, contributed more than P 200 million to the industry since the early 1980’s.Saturno’s credits include also numerous recognition of excellence in the Film sector such as the following: Best Theme Song award for the song, " Anong Daling Sabihin, " in the recent Metro Manila Film Festival entry, " Bulaklak ng Maynila, " FAMAS Awardee for Best Musical Scoring for the " Flor Contemplacion Story" in 1996; Star Awards’ Movie Theme Song of the year for "Konting Awa" in 1995; Best Movie Theme Song for "Pangako ng Panahon" by the Film Academy of the Philippines in 1994.In joining this year’s edition of the Metro Pop, Saturno hopes and desires to inject a commercial value to this annual event that is lacking in previous stagings of said contest.He dreams one day, of seeing the fragmented music industry unified and an instrument for national unity – a dream, he wishes that everyone in the industry is likewise, dreaming about. |
