    Artist History
TIGHT . . . defined in Webster's as "strongly fixed or held." An apt description of the sticky, intuitive musical relationship between Jason Naiden (vocals, bass) and Thad Taylor (drums), TIGHT's founding members. TIGHT . . . a good way to describe the band's trademark bass and drums groove. TIGHT TIMELINE: April 2000 - EP "Road To Millions," with one Gary Antol lending his guitar talent. July 2000 - First gig, Old Town Alehouse. Fall 2000 - Extensive gigging with former The Day I Fell Down guitarist Sid Law (venues: Rainbow, Raindancer, Cooper's, Murphy's, etc.). March 2001 - Memorable "stadium show" gig at Experience Music Project's multimedia SkyChurch. May 2001 - Guitarist Corey Knoblich joins TIGHT. Sept. 2001- The new TIGHT kicks off intense run of live performances; first of popular monthly gigs at Seattle's heralded Experience Music Project (EMP) Liquid Lounge. Dec. 2001 - Appearance, guest host on 90.7 KSER FM. Live CD from show released in 2002. May 2002 - Debut self-titled CD released at UW StreetFair. Summer 2002 - Several new tunes, some new venues: Magnolia Fest, Tommy's, Mulleadies. CD selling at brisk pace. For the new "Anything You Want," Jason plays guitar onstage for first time in a decade, while Corey does his best Michael Anthony impersonation on bass. Sept. 2002 - Local R&B artist ReyShard sits in, scat-singing/rapping at Sept. 9, EMP Liquid Lounge. TIGHT has played this prestgious venue a dozen times. Oct. 2002 - Reyshard continues to sit in, including rip-roaring event with THE HYPNOTIC at Belltown's Bada Lounge. BACKSTORY Two kids (Jason and Thad) raised in the cultural wasteland of Yakima, WA formed the basis for the baddest junior high band percussion section known to man. They played basketball, chased girls, and after their teenage rock band fizzled, Jason bolted to the Bay Area and Thad left for Seattle.12 years later, with their chemistry intact, they combined strengths again, shaking up the musically stagnant Seattle scene. With the addition of sparkplug guitarist Corey Knoblich in May 2001, TIGHT honed their innovative musical mix: R&B-tinged rock with a dash of reggae and fusion seasonings. With the industry mired in an uninspired mishmash of teen spirit and alternative to the alternative, TIGHT presents a fresh approach. TIGHT's strong hooks, massive grooves, and impeccable musicianship transcend generic "rock." THE BAND With influences as diverse as the Police, Van Halen, Prince, and Miles Davis, the band's sound reflects its diverse personalities: Jason Naiden, the enigmatic front man, multi-instrumentalist, recording engineer, sonic alchemist and main songwriter; who doesn't like it if it doesn't groove. Jason delivers poppy soul through his bass lines and melodies. Thad Taylor, the cool assassin behind the drums who has been written up in Modern Drummer and DRUM! magazines; the kid who picked up the sticks after hearing Keith Moon on his older brother's Who records. Thad brings the virtuoso kick-ass mentality to the band. Corey Knoblich, the buoyant guitarist who trained as a minister in America's heartland, spent nearly a decade in the Minneapolis scene and helped his friends in Husker Du and the Replacements go big time. Corey is the catalyst onstage at gigs and tireless promoter. "Great players, great songs, a unique personality . . . that's the kind of band we strive to be," Thad says.
