Artist History
Robbie Laws started playing guitar in his twenties. His interest was intense, fueled with a relentless desire. This self-taught axman studied a variety of styles and emerged a true master of the genre he so dearly loves. In 1978, a chance meeting with the great Albert Collins turned out to be the defining moment of Robbie's career. He jammed and played with the "Iceman" for more than a week, and when the smoke cleared Robbie came away with the stimulus that to this day provides Laws with the ability to play from the heart and soul. Robbie has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada, and is also a favorite among the blues festival circuit, with a showstopping performance every time. He's played with or opened for Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Ronnie Earl, Albert Collins, John Mayall, James Brown, Aaron Neville, Leon Russell, Joe Louis Walker, Junior Wells, and many, many more. |

Press Reviews
"Virtuoso guitar playing and authoritative vocals" (Blues Revue). "Flash! Here's your next big blues artist from the Northwest. Portland's Robbie Laws really kills...from jazzy blues riffs to the fiery lead runs, his guitar work is dynamic and fresh" (Victory Music Review - Steve Sarkowsky). "Laws guitar is pristine, with every note counting where and when it should. You can feel his passion behind the music and at times it's elevated to an exceptional degree" (Bernard Baur - Music Connection). "An ideal balance between technique and heart and soul" (Sam Andrew - Big Brother & the Holding Company). |
