Press Reviews
Exclaim, Canada, May 1999Four guys from the depths of suburbia have parlayed their boredom into something that goes from minamalist and mellow to distorted without sounding contrived, drawing from everything from Pavement to the Promise Ring, Little Clever have put together a good 30 minute debut that deftly moves from introspective on " An Okay Day", to melancholic on "Silver Screen" to the Eric's Trip pop of "Winnie C." This is one record that's worth picking up. Now Weekly, Toronto, October 1 1998New to the scene but full of piss and vineager nonetheless, area quartet Little Clever launch their debut release, with a bash at the El Mocamo tonight. Music type? Twisty-inventive-low-fi pop loaded with teen-angst imagery, willfully wobbly vocals and spacey synth flourishes, kinda like Sloan via Pavement, but weirder--and definitely worth a look. |
