Artist History
I've been playing for over 20 years now, and I've reached this point. I've recorded two CDs under the moniker of Gezoleen. One is called Stiff Miserable Goodbye, and it's a 31-minute, triple guitar improvisation. The latest is calle Oxidado, which is a collection of extreme noise rock songs. I'm currently recording a new collection entitled A Child's Guide To Misanthropy. |

Press Reviews
Pillowfight RecordViews (www.pillowfight.com)Gezoleen - Oxidado: Oh my God. I remember a late night a few years back when, whileplaying Quake 2 for the first time, I actually was scared by music.I think Trent Reznor provided the sounds for that disturbing game, and while I'm not a fan of his albums, that shit was well done. And so is the mood and ultimate affect of listening to this newestand most assaulting release by Gezoleen. Dark, distorted, speeding and wailing, this tape-only package takes the honor ofbeing the only album in memory to blankly state, "All distortion isintentional. Do not adjust your system." The songs contained within remind me of an unholy matrimony ofGodflesh, Ministry and Dazzling Killmen. Such endless intensity also characterizes Jeff McLeod's previous band, Bert. Good late-night listening, if you dare... Mark Wieman Jim Santo's Demo Universe (http://www.demouniverse.com/demou/)Gezoleen- Oxidado: So much for ambience -- Gezoleen's follow-up to the restrained improvisation of Stiff Miserable Goodbye finds guitarist Jeff McLeod returning to the scorched-earth tactics that made his previous band, bert, so memorable. Oxidado (Spanish for "rusty" or "corroded") is if anything more extreme, substituting bert's spine-snapping time shifts with full-on, primal roar. Using mainly voice, bass and a drum machine, and recording everything direct to tape through a ProCo Rat, McLeod churns up enough low-end saw-teeth to chop a jungle down to tindersticks -- beware of speaker damage! Hard to hear what he's howling, but song titles like "Trust Is Weakness," "Drowned In Foreign Dirt" and "Fingernail Jar" offer helpful clues. Eek! Jim Santo, Demo Universe |
