    Artist description
Oh ... The Drama is Derek Cintron's anticipated follow-up to his award-winning debut solo album, Mantra. The 11 song CD costs only $6.99. Oh ... The Drama is best described as "classic rock for the 21st century," with strong roots in powerful arena rock, melodic '70s pop and energetic old-school punk. With this album, Derek Cintron has once again "tapped into the sacred essence of the rock and roll hook” (The Miami New Times). The eleven song album features Cintron on vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, 4 and 8 string basses, drums, percussion, keyboards and string arrangements. He also wrote, arranged and produced all of the songs on the record. Of his performances, Music Forum Magazine has offered, "Cintron sounds as if he was backed up with the best recording facilities and producers extraordinaire; great harmonies (all done by himself) and even greater music to solidify a beautiful voice . . .. We are awestruck at Cintron's abilities as a musician, arranger, producer and yes, poet." Oh ... The Drama balances hard-hitting rockers like "Ride" and the instant rock radio classic "Closure" with moving orchestral pieces like "Walk Again" and melodic gems like "How Sorry You Are." Also of note is the haunting album-closer "Some More Time," in which Cintron performed a full choir of a cappella vocals (over 23 voices) by using multi-track recording. The Miami-based artist plans to perform both electric and acoustic sets to support Oh ... The Drama, which is distributed by Alliance Entertainment. The album is available for only $6.99 on the web at www.derekcintron.com. For brick and mortar, South Florida fans can listen to and buy the CD at Miami's Virgin Megastore, Uncle Sam's Records, Blue Note, and most South Florida Border's Music locations.

    Artist History
Released to fanfare, Cintron's solo debut Mantra garnered Jam Magazine's Jammie Award for Best Independent Release and The Miami New Times' award for Best Solo Release. WZTA 94.9, the leading modern rock station in South Florida, gave Mantra's "Waiting in the Wings" heavy airplay and selected it as the lead track on the 1998 Zeta Goes Local compilation CD. Ever since, Cintron has been hustling around Miami as a professional musician, singing and playing guitar, bass, and drums for various music projects including MCA Latino recording artist Rosco and local power-pop faves Humbert and Trophy Wife.

    Press Reviews
---- CURRENT PRESS ---- RMU Magazine writes: "Oh . . . the Drama is a beautifully melodic album well worth the paltry sum Cintron is asking for it (only $6.99 on the website www.derekcintron.com). … Of the 11 songs..., I have a hard time choosing a best cut. The first song, 'Ride,' is a perfect driving song. … 'Pirate Radio' has an old school punk feel - I hear shades of Violent Femmes. … Cintron has a way with lyrics that you can relate to. I think one of the best lyrics on the whole album is in the song ‘Reborn’: ‘gotta bring myself to wish you well/even when I want to send you to hell.’ All those who can relate to this one, raise your hands! … Recorded at For the Record Studios in Delray Beach, the production on this album is excellent. I highly recommend you find this album as soon as you can - I'm having a hard time taking it out of my CD player (which makes it difficult to listen to other CD's for review, as you can imagine!). ---- UPCOMING PRESS ---- Check out Derek's upcoming review in the May/June issue of DRUM Magazine.
