Artist History Tony Martin's ballads were reminiscent of the movie musicals from the first half of the 19th century. His career began with his first hit, "Now It Can Be Told" in 1937. Martin served in World War II, and returned only to return to the world of entertainment for many years to come. Martin spent the later years of his career, performing with his wife, dancer-actress Syd Charisse.
