Artist description Shortwave tones mixed with drum beats and unusual micro-cassette samples define this new Electronic music genre. After dark, shortwave sounds emerge in the continuous wave band due to the propagation effect of the ionosphere. Signals can travel thousands of miles from their source, shaped and altered along their journey by the earth's atmosphere. Interference from shared band frequencies, sunspots, and planetary sources also contribute to the ever changing tonal framework of shortwave.

Artist History Authentic Shortwave Beats is the next logical step for sound designer/producer Steve Cerilli in his journey back from the fringes of experimental soundscape production. The first release titled "Authentic Shortwave Experiments" explored the use of shortwave radios as musical instruments in an Ambient context. The resulting recordings transcend the boundaries of standard stereophonic sound to encompass the listener.

Press Reviews Shortwave Beats creator performed live with Dj Logic and the Project Logic Band at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, RI.The Daily Show with Jon Stuart recently visited our newport recording facility to investigate the effects of shortwave sounds on spirits of all kinds. The show was called "ghost in the machine" which aired in march 2000 on comedy central.
