Artist History
Ranked among the top female jazz vocalists, Sarah Vaughan began her career at an amateur contest at the Apollo Theatre in New York. Although, Vaughan first sang in Earl Hines' band, and was heavily influenced by playing with Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker, she made most of her career as a solo star. Her strong voice and unique way of incorporating Bop with vocals, makes Sarah Vaughan the legend that she is. Vaughan passed away in 1990. |
