    Artist History
I started out as a roadie (and early light show enthusiast)for a couple of bands in the late 60's in Sarasota, Florida. (The Bits of Difference, The Crystal Pain, The Soldiers) Was lead vocalist for the Joint Session back then as well. Following this I did a number of open mike nights and street corner/subway gigs into the early 70's. Followed a path into more direct exploration of the spiritual into the mid 70's. Spent time in Berkeley as a member of CWLF's Berkeley Street Theater '74-75. For the next 15 years pulled more of an Arthur Rimbaud and stopped playing almost completely. Went back to school and became an RN. I have worked in Nursing/Health care for the past 25 years. Following the breakup of my marriage in '88, I returned to playing and writing in the early 90's. Then for the next 5 years struggled with the proverbial "dark night of the soul." I hope that you get some pleasure and/or comfort from these songs. Obviously there is a strong theme of issues related to choice and mental health in these tunes. Most of my career as a Nurse has been in the field of mental health. There are a lot of therapies and treatments competeing for folks money now a days, when in reality, the best therapy is many times supportive friends! (And the administration of a swift kick to the butts of the bosses and ceo's of the world.)If you get a chance, I would appreciate hearing from you. I am also always looking to hear from others about the music they like. Thanks for reading and listening.

The majority of time I perform solo. For recording I had the wonderful pleasure of having some very talented folks help me out. First, the vocalists. I couldn't have asked for two more wonderful people with beautiful voices. Mylena Spangler/Kelly and Leslie Varner/Acker. The additional musicians and recording technicians that you hear are Jimmy Gatewood and Bob Spencer. The percussion, harmonies, harmonica, and drums are Jimmy. Additional guitar and keyboards, as well as some harmonies, are Bob. The recording was done at Encore Studios in Greensboro, NC. I am sure that Jimmy and Bob were glad when it was all over. The studio was new and these recordings were a lesson for all of us. I will forever be in debt to all these folks. And a special thank you to Scott Manning and Brad Newell as well.
