Artist description
Chicken Fried Funk plays a tight blend of rhythmic, melodic music combining the guitar oriented elements of rock music (courtesy of guitarist Sam Douglass) with the drum and bass oriented elements of funk (courtesy of bassist Dave Miller and drummer Ryan Bauer). Phil Ajjarapu, lead singer, lays on top of it all some primal, infectious, machismo-tinged vocal melodies with no-nonsense, cut-to-the-chase lyrics. Toss in a few chant-along choruses, and you've got the powerful live experience of Chicken Fried Funk, guaranteed to be %100 ass shaking. The band is captured performing live on the air on these .mp3's. |

Artist History
CFF formed in the Fall of '96 through a long-since forgotten series of events bringing together a few friends and acquaintances. Originally a five piece fronted by Venezuelan singer, Javier Izquierdo, and featuring rhythm guitarist Eric Yeargan, CFF started out writing rock songs with a slight hint of funk. In '98, frontman Izquierdo had to return to Venezuela, forcing CFF to find a new singer. The band also took the opportunity to retool their sound, cranking up the funk in their funk/rock ratio. Ajjarapu complemented the new musical direction of the band perfectly, adding a gripping and extremely interactive presence to their live performances. |
