Artist History
Born in the most tragic decade of them all (the 80s), Ben Mitchell was always fond of music, since his first unfortunate performance of Xmas carols at a young age in a crowded, rather small pub, surrounded by dribbling men all socially maladjusted and eager to take him outside to show him something or other of theirs. His adolescence was as to be expected; sultry and sullen, the only true good times had when with those that he respected, whether friends of his or not. Unsure as to what he truly liked in terms of music, it hit home when he bought (and subsequently listened to religiously) Faith No More's 1992 album, 'Angel Dust' which, although admittedly a far cry from the musical stylings selected in his own compositions, was enough to convince him that writing music was undoubtedly going to be a large part of his near future. After writing his first songs in 1996, he has since produced seven demos: 'Rent The Woman' (1997), 'Roped' (1997), 'Born' (1998), 'Fetish' (1998), 'Town Of Treetops' (1999), 'Big Fat B*st*rd' (1999) and 'Bloody Troubles' (2000), the latter three from which the songs for the first DAM CD, 'Nothing To Grin About', were selected, released July 2000. The second album, 'The Hot Beef Injection', which featured guests Toby Shipway and Rock, came out in November 2000. The third official album, 'Easier To Swallow', was released in May and involved an array of guest contributors. 'The Adventures Of Johnny Star' is his latest album to date, released this December. |
