Press Reviews
From the beginning, when they inhaled marijuana and played their music, they were dreaming of this record: It would be an expression of their collective inner pot-leaf. A Guiness Stout was poured into the sampler every day for several weeks. Sometimes a Rainier 40 ouncer, too. Tuesdays of course were reserved for the pub. They took drugs to make music to take drugs to, as Sonic Boom said once.Hector Smead wrote some lyrics down on paper, then sang them different.Collins Mix and Greg pampered the sampler.Erin deftly strummed his Lute.Phil and Charlie filled the air with the sound of children playing toy instruments. At times the band was a tightly controlled machine, with thumping boom-boom bass and drum that shattered Jeep windows all the way back to The Bronx. Sometimes it was a horrible cacophony of noise that made their Pomeranian bitch Monkey whimper and howl. One sunny day in spring, when the roses and daffodils were in bloom, when a picnic felt just right, and when the peanut butter was spread on the white bread, Anal Solvent came together on the hemp picnic blanket at Smegma Studios and recorded "Wild And Free", the most beautiful song ever laid down on the soft green grass of Portland. Later that summer, in Club Les Girls, located directly below the 2 AM lounge at Cat Soho, they blew minds and speaker cones with "Spontaneous Smeadcore" and "Wood Masted Sailboat".An error at the typesetter resulted in the name of the band and all of their song titles being translated into Thai. There was no way to correct the mistake in time to meet the deadline for release, so on the request of their fans (Sid and Doris Bonkers) an English translation of the song titles is provided here:1.
