Artist History
It all started in 1997 when Jeep and a few friends started a band called "Lifter". They played a couple of shows and decided it was time for some member changes. Do bouchard joined the band as drummer while John and Yves filled the guitarist positions. Do bouchard left the band in 1999 after recording the Lifter EP. Jeep had talked to Pat about joining the band as new drummer on the internet a couple of months earlier and he gladly accepted. He introduced Stalemate to his friend Max who he played bass and a couple of weeks later....the band was complete. The band has 3 Ep's to it's name. The "Stare and Trust" ep (1998), the "Lifter" ep (1999) and they are currently working on the "Feeder" ep that will be out a little later this year. Their style has changed dramaticaly over the years. The "Stare and Trust" ep, being heavy with a lot of screaming (just plain annoying), the "Lifter" ep, being heavy with a drum and bass-ish feel to it sometimes with still a little rapcore stuff and now the new "Feeder" ep...Their best effort yet. Still heavy but as they like to call it "intelligent heavy". no more screaming, rapcore or anything that you might here on those heavy radio stations. This is Stalemate at their best. Strong and emotional vocals over really melodic guitar riffs, original basslines and strong beats making this a style that they can finally call their own. |

Press Reviews
Male-centric rap and muscular metal duke it out and leave eachother bruised and scratched, but still standing. If rap is male-centric and metal is the sonic equivalent of testosterone, then *Stalemate*'s balls-to-the-wall blend of the two is not unlike a steroid-abusing wrestler with anger issues." - Listen.com review |
