Artist description
SILENT STREAM OF GODLESS ELEGY appeared with the speed of spaceship among the best acts from the Czech metal scene. But still ? it wasnīt so much unexpected. The listeners and the critics knew immediately after the releasing of ?Iron? debut (1996) that ?there is something in the air?. The expectation exploded two years later when SILENT STREAM OF GODLESS ELEGY came with the second masterpiece ?Behind The Shadows? (1998). This album was doubtless the milestone in the career of the band. SILENT STREAM OF GODLESS ELEGY confirmed their high quality standard also with the latest album ?Themes? (2000). Where should we seek the successfull recipe that the band uses so handy? Well, itīs mainly in a clever mixture of typical metal instruments with the double strings (violin & violoncello). O.K., itīs nothing so much new and original but SILENT STREAM OF GODLESS ELEGY tried to play a little bit different way. They simply combined heavy/groovy/sharp guitar riffs with gloomy strings tunes of valachian folklore. The final result is the amazing experience, indeed. That, what looked like a cheap advertisement at the beginning seems to be the (beautiful) truth in the end. But this is not all. The combination of raw and changeable male vocals with full mature female singing is the next charismatic element in the music of the band. Be sure you wonīt change SILENT STREAM OF GODLESS ELEGY for any other band?not even now..at the time of worldwide overproduction in doom metal area. You see?they found their originality, their own musical face which hasnīt been getting older with the increasing age?on the contrary - the more mature the nicer. And that shadow of melancholy emphasizes only its spiritual and inner strength. |
