Artist History
Formed '92, Pure Genius had immediate and overwhelming success in the Top40 with 'Taster', a record that carbon-froze the impact of their first rehearsal. Due to chokingly massive public demand, PG played a series of high profile and now legendary concert spectaculars in the areans and scout huts of the South Bucks area. The following year PG released the cult classic 'Octopus Lack Syndrome', containing the smash hit single 'Shelf Horror'. Also that year the bands' final live performance was captured on tape and released as 'Live Genius'. Despite its' piss poor recording quality it sold four times the amount of even 'Octopus Lack..', sending PG double-platinum in Belgium (a country PG had not even heard of). Then, at the very threshold of superstardom, PG split! Cheggers went to conduct vital potato expirements at Oxbridge University and Bug left normality after eating a sheet of LSD. Emlyn sat around with nothing to do at all, on the pretext of 'Historical Research'. Emlyn and Prof. reunited in 1994 (Bug had by now totally disappeared) to begin recording of their major work, the outstanding URGENT:ATTENDCLINIC! Finally released in 1995, it had a totalitarian mix of pop songs (Strange Old Man), conceptual pieces (Cucumber Revolution III) and the mood-texture classique of 'The Mushroom Pickers', an opera performed with the Cuddington City Operatic Soc. Following a world-wide promotional tour that lasted nearly four days, Emlyn & Cheggers began writing the follow up. Almost immediatly it earned its title 'Difficult Forth Album' when Emlyn suddenly moved 150 miles away from Cheggers 'for artistic reasons'. Cheggers now plans a similar move to help aid the creative process but to out-do his companion he plans to move to Australia for a promotional tour. |

Press Reviews
In 1997 Pure Genius were entered into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame, and also won a Brit Award (best overall band), a Mercury Music Prize (outstanding commitment to music), A Readers Digest award (for best dressed celebrities) and an Acadame Award (due to a typing error). However, Pure Genius ignored the invitations and didn't turn up so the awards were collected on their behalf by popular 70's/80's childrens favorate, Derek Griffiths, who then melted them down to buy crack. |
