Artist History
Planet Delirium was formed in the spring of 1999 and currently consists of five members. Rob Pearson(guitars) and Jim Deptula(guitars) had arranged some material and recruited the services of Brian Rehak(drums) so they could work out their musical ideas further. At the same time, Matt Schmitz(vocals) and Baron Rehak(bass) were having some trouble with their project Atomic Number Nine and left that band to pursue other interests at the request of Brian who has been long time friends with them both. This was all Planet Delirium needed to prove that the shared vision of a band can accomplish many things in a short amount of time, having completed their independent 10-song debut CD entitled "Strange Seasons" only 9 months from their formation. The band draws their musical influence from almost every possible facet, but mainly cite The Doors, Sepultura, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Napalm Death, My Dying Bride, and Cathedral as bands that have a direct impact on the unique style of Planet Delirium. That style has been described as being very heavy groove metal with an array of moody and psychedelic overtones to grab the listener's attention on many different levels. This band is very determined to leave their mark on the heavy music scene for years to come. |
