Artist History
Philippe-Alexandre Belisle was born in Montreal, on March 7th 1974. In 1977, his family moves to Varennes, a city on the south shore of the St-Lawrence River. There, Philippe-Alexandre will complete his grammar and secondary school (Saint-Paul College.) Music entered in Philippe's life at the age of 4 inspired by a concert given by Andre Gagnon at the "Place des arts". This event brought Philippe to complete more than 10 consecutive years of classical music in piano and two years at the Montreal Music Conservatory. During this time, Philippe showed exceptional dexterity and sensibility while performing classical music. Curious and knowledge hungry, Philippe-Alexandre always manifested an interest for contemporary composers and expressed his wishes in understanding the basics of music composition. As a fact, one of his hobbies was to replicate the music of his favourite movies or TV shows. Against his teachers' wishes, Philippe showed exceptional hearing abilities. In the 90, Philippe couldn't resist his attraction to musical composition; he reoriented his music studies to include many of the aspect of modern music going from new age to electronic. He began a soundtrack collection and today, Philippe owns more than 1500 units. Following his instinct and his listening experiences, Philippe-Alexandre debuted in music composition at the age of 16. Rapidly, he got involved in many musical productions and found an ally in technological musical instruments: the keyboards and synthesisers were helping him in the orchestration of his music. This passion for technology and the will to assure his future brought Philippe to complete his college degree in aeronautics at the National Aeronautics School and his university degree in automated manufacturing engineering at the Superior Technological School. Happily for him, his interest for music composition got stronger, giving him the will to create the Goliards theatre company in 1995 with the help of M. Jean-Claude Brès, philosophy teacher at the Édouard-Montpetit College. His initiative hid a secret wish: to have the opportunity to show his talent in musical composition to many directors.

Press Reviews
"Don't know about you, but lately I've found myself feeling completely zoned out at the end of yet another grueling day of running through this rat-race we call Life. One thing I do know? With its light-hearted piano solo that delicately dances through majestic, billowing clouds of slowly swirling synths, its uplifting outbursts of mystical pan-pipes and boasting a full orchestral accompaniment, this absolutely stunning contemporary instrumental will, without a doubt, truly leave you with a most refreshing and peaceful sense of well-being after the very first listen. Proof positive as to exactly why this 26 year old music producer/ composer/ arranger keeps soaring straight to the top of the MP3.com New Age charts on a regular basis. Soulful, soft, soothing - Horizon is a melodic, emotionally inspired bit of heaven right here on Earth." - Face magazine |
